KUALA LUMPUR: Air quality in the Klang valley this morning remained poor, however it was much better compared to yesterday’s readings.
Banting’s Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 6am stood at 188 and an hour later dropped to 184 at 7am.
The air quality in Banting last night reached the very unhealthy stage in the API scale when it registered a reading of 207 at 11pm.
However Ipoh recorded the highest API reading as at 7am with 188. Two areas in Negri Sembilan, Nilai and Port Dickson also hovered at the threshold of the very unhealthy level last night, with readings of 200 and 195 respectively.
This morning saw their 7am reading saw them drop to 182 and 167. The poor air quality saw the Education Ministry ordering all schools in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan and Malacca closed today.
As at 11pm last night, 30 other areas in the country recorded API readings in the unhealthy level, while 19 had moderate readings.
The 7am API readings today saw 34 areas coming under the unhealthy level, while 15 areas had moderate reading.
